E Class Fire resistant Doors

The fire resistant lift landing doors are the most diffused in Europe and in the world.
Their essential feature is to satisfy the fire resistance requirements of the fireproof rules for the buildings.

In 2003, after the introduction of the new norms EN81-58, in Europe it was found a meeting point on the type of tests to be applied to the prototypes of landing door.
This has allowed to eliminate the differences in specifications of doors determined by local fire authorities, which are generally different from country to country.

Three classes of resistance are available:
  • Class "E" (fire resistant doors)
  • Class "EW" (fire resistant doors with limited irradiation)
  • Class "EI" (fire-cutting doors)

Compared to the old tests, the fire resistant doors class "E" have the following features:
  • Sheet 15/10 thickness instead of 18/10
  • Possible execution without thermo-expanding gaskets
  • Possible execution without top and rabbet side labyrinth

Furthermore, Hydra and Pegasus doors in fire resistant execution class "E" may be certified anti-vandal according to European standards EN81-71: 2005.

Angular or tubular frames

Special frames

These particular types of frames are designed to simplify the modernization of existing lifts.

Their shape allows them to be installed in narrow spaces or to be hidden by architectural decorations.

Furthermore, their application on existing shafts is easier, since they can be fastened with standard screw anchors only.

Explosionproof installations

A mechanism or operator in explosionproof execution is able to avoid the triggering of sparks, according to 1127:1997 standards.

In case of explosionproof installations, normally installed in difficult environments, mechanism, operator and electrical components are available in special executions to ensure their functioning and their working life.

IP54 installations

The installations in IP54 execution are the ideal solutions in case of exposure to humidity, to the inclemency of the weather and to other environmental conditions particularly difficult (for example proximity to the sea or in the presence of highly corrosive agents).

The particular environmental conditions make it necessary to use all the components in stainless steel, beginning from the hanger.
So, as well as provide resistance to the explosion, you get additional protection to corrosion.

The components not feasible in stainless steel will be painted with polyester powder for outdoor RAL.

The lock will be in IP54 execution thank to the application of a safety contact on the standard lock. This allows you to remove all the seals subjected to aging.

Vandal resistant certification doors

Wittur group has completed the vandal-resistant certification category 1 for its HYDRA and PEGASUS range of landing and car door types according to the European standard EN81-71:2005.

The growing demand of protection of lifts in unguarded public areas against acts of vandalism has lead CEN (European Committee for Standardization) to issue the harmonized norm, which defines the testing methodology and the classification of lifts in terms of vandal-resistance. Category 1 vandal-resistant doors are manufactured in reinforced execution in order to withstand moderate acts of vandalism, carried out according to modes and with instruments as indicated in the annexes of the EN81-71.

Wittur scope of supply for HYDRA and PEGASUS range of vandal-resistant certified doors is now very wide. Car doors are available both in standard and glass-framed executions. Landing doors are available in a further range of executions, including fire-rated, insulated fire-rated and fire-rated with glass-framed panels according to EN81-58 standard.

Vandal-resistant car and landing doors in standard execution are available in all common cladding types, as well as in IP54 or IP67 protection degree and in explosion proof version (ATEX).

Vandal-resistant landing doors in fire-rated Exxx, Ewxx class according to EN81-58 are available with steelworks in mild or full stainless steel, as well as in IP54 or IP67 protection degree and in explosion proof version (ATEX).

Vandal-resistant landing doors in fire-rated EIxxx class according to EN 81-58 are available in standard, IP54 or IP67 protection degree and in explosion proof version (ATEX).

Vandal-resistant landing and car doors with glass-framed panels are available in standard, IP54 or IP67 protection degree.

Vandal-resistant landing doors in fire-rated execution with glass-framed panels according to EN81-58 are available in standard, IP54 or IP67 protection degree and in explosion proof version (ATEX).

The new Wittur vandal-resistant certified doors are being added to the most extensive range of certifications for car and landing doors in the whole lift industry.

This new complete range of doors will be available starting from June, 2009.
